2019 | Sheram I + II
Light Installation, 12 glass slides, painted on inside, black/white photo on overhead foil | format: variable
The prefabricated housing district Sheram I + II at the periphery of Gyumri (Armenia) was planned for the inhabitants who had lost their homes during the devastating earthquake in 1988. Shortly afterwards, the Soviet Union collapsed and the construction site was abandoned. There are a number of settlements like Sheram I + II around Gyumri that have not or only partially been completed.
The site looks – despite the many years in between – untouched, as if the stop of the construction work had just happend recently.
